Ask Us Before You Do It

Remember the phone phreaks.

For most of our customers the internet is a very important part of their IT, especially email. Most users have ADSL connected over a standard BT analogue telephone line, sometimes a main number or fax line. ADSL shares this line so if any changes are made with the provider of this line there a good possibility this will effect the ADSL service.

It is a similar story if you are planning changes to a domain name or website. If your main emails use the same domain as your website making changes to this such as changing hosting company, not renewing the domain or changes made by a design company can all have an impact on you email services.

It is a good precaution to check with a member of our technical team on 0845 1298393 or support@firststopit.com to make sure the changes your are planning will not effect your internet or email services and if they will how long to expect loss of service.

Grant Peck - Technical Director

It was a term used to describe those that hacked the telephone system back in the 1970s and the same symbolic replacement of the 'f' has passed on to email fraudsters who 'fish' for web users' identity details.

Phishing is a term used to describe the action of assuming the identity of a legitimate organisation, or web site, using forged email and/or web pages and with a view to convince consumers to share their user names, passwords and personal financial information for the purpose of using it to commit fraud. This is also and often refered to as Identity Theft.

Microsoft upgrades are sporadic at best and its not always obvious what the advantages are, but the latest version of small business server offers some real end user benefits. For a great many companies it’s not always easy to share or publish information to its staff. Now with Sharepoint Server, included with Small Business Server 2003 this need not be a problem.

Spending £10bn ($18bn) over the next five years to save an estimated £1bn in year on year operating costs, UK carrier BT is transforming its core network from the old circuit-switched, narrow band technology to modern IP (Internet Protocol), broadband transmission.

The anticipated savings are a direct result of the lower maintenance, operating and running costs associated with collapsing the current 16 separate service specific networks into one multi-service infrastructure.
