Microsoft Expands Anti Piracy Policy

Its been an eventful month here at First Stop IT Limited.

Our new website has gone live, we have introduced a real-time server monitoring system for our contracted clients and today our newsletter rolls off the presses.

The newsletter and website are designed to inform our customers of the latest services and technology updates we offer. These products and services can improve our clients efficiency and offer a competitive advantage. We only offer solutions that have been fully tried and tested so our customers can be confident in their reliability.

We are very proud or our new real-time server monitoring system which has been deployed on all our contracted clients servers. It informs our engineers if there are any server problems so we know before our clients do.

Customers will receive regular reports to let them know the condition of their servers so they can relax in the knowledge that we are looking after them.

Microsoft Corp. is adopting more stringent controls for registering legitimate copies of its flagship Windows operating system in an effort to curtail piracy of its products worldwide, the world's largest software maker said on Tuesday.

Microsoft expanded its "Windows Genuine Advantage" program, requiring users of its software to verify their copies of software in order to receive add-ons to Windows XP..

The use of internet telephony has doubled over the last year according to analysts at Point Topic.

Its research found that more than 11 million people around the world use a retail voice over IP (VoIP) service compared to five million a year ago. The numbers exclude PC-based "soft-client" services such as Skype.

Spyware and Adware Threat to the Corporation

Spyware 'calling home' volumes soar

Spyware poses a significant threats to corporations such as:

Outbound spyware transmissions from infested machines accounted for up to eight per cent of total outbound web traffic in pilot tests of a new managed spyware screening service. UK web security firm ScanSafe said the volume of traffic observed during a 10-week pilot test of its Spyware Screening service showed that spyware applications are becoming stealthier in their ability to hide their outbound 'covert' channels among normal web traffic.
